New IKEA Store in Grand Prairie




Home furnishings retailer IKEA has opened a 290,000-square-foot store, its second Dallas-Fort Worth-area store and the fourth in Texas, at State Highway 161 and Mayfield Road 1000 IKEA Way, in Grand Prairie, creating more than 500 construction jobs.

It features a 181,500-square-foot rooftop solar array with 2,800 panels, making it one of the largest retail solar rooftops in Texas. Store manager Matt Hunsicker, says, “Other ways that IKEA makes efforts to be sustainable are by using water-conserving restrooms, energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems, and recycled construction materials.” They also recycle waste material.
