Treehouse Green Home Improvement Store Breaks Ground

Austin retailer TreeHouse has started construction on a second store at 8021 Walnut Hill, at The Hill, in Dallas, slated to open in 2017. Since 2011, TreeHouse has become a leading retailer of innovative home products, materials and technologies, creating homes that are not only well-designed, safe and comfortable, but also sustainable and efficient. TreeHouse uses a pioneering consultative model to work with homeowners on non-toxic paints and flooring, kitchen design, rainwater harvesting and solar systems.

The store will be the world’s first net-zero energy home improvement store. TreeHouse has also been chosen as the first retailer for Tesla’s highly anticipated Powerwall home battery, and the store was the first retailer to sell products from Kentucky’s Big Ass Fans, Bole Flooring, Soma Water Filters and Romabio paints, among others.

“TreeHouse was born in Texas, and it is going to grow up in Texas,” says TreeHouse CEO and co-founder Jason Ballard. “Dallas was an easy choice for the next location. The Dallas Treehouse Paint Selectioncommunity has been supporting us for four years, and now it’s our turn to show that our successful model works successfully in Dallas.” The first investor and a number of other investors and two-thirds of the board members are also in Dallas. “It has been with their help that we found this wonderful location in the middle of North Dallas on Central Expressway,” says Ballard. “We are excited to be a part of the growth of North Texas’ green footprint.”
