June 2012 Publisher Letter

Welcome to our second anniversary issue! The journey continues to be an exciting and rewarding one, thanks to all of you—our enthusiastic and supportive readers, advertisers, distributors and contributors. Together, we now reach more than 80,000 readers each month with cutting-edge, educational and actionable information supporting healthy and sustainable living.

Together, we are building a strong, supportive network of eco-centric and environmentally conscious businesses, with holistic, organic and environmentally sensitive products and services, all devoted to helping to achieve the highest quality of life for residents of the DFW Metroplex and North Texas communities.  Practically every day brings exciting news.

If you’re like me, you’re always up for discovering special getaway places. The best encourage you to unplug from the virtual reality of the Internet and plug into refreshing, real-life experiences that prepare you to resume your life’s mission with new ideas and renewed vigor. Connecting with locations like those Judith Fertig highlights in our feature article, “Healthy Escapes: Unplugged Getaways Rebalance Our Lives,” is bound to be both amazing and healthy. How blessed we are to have many such opportunities all around us.

Also check out our North Texas Eco Escapes guide on page and plan a visit to one of the many state parks and forests within a one- to three-hour drive from here; they’re perfect for an affordable weekend or week-long adventure.

This June issue also pays tribute to the valued dads and other father figures in our lives. Our special focus on Men’s Wellness ranges from maintaining hormone health to the benefits of staying fit using the urban landscape as your workout venue. May this issue supply healthy ideas ripe for sharing with your fathers, grandfathers, husbands, brothers, sons and male friends. Let’s up the TLC factor this month and celebrate those whom God has sent into our lives as a mutual blessing.

Finally, we have information to help you survive the annual North Texas mosquito (and other pests) invasion, which is on steroids this season due to the mild winter. We hope you will find the natural remedies and solutions contributed by our Metroplex experts highly helpful.

As we kick off another year publishing Natural Awakenings’ Dallas Metroplex magazine edition, I thank you all for your ongoing support, enthusiasm and encouragement in this divine journey together. Each day continues to present fresh opportunities to connect with amazing, dedicated people, working hard to bring health and sustainability to our community and beyond.

Thank you for being part of it all; we can’t wait to see what next year brings. Meanwhile, remember that green living is healthy and healthy living is green (and sustainable).

Blessings always,

Bernice Butler, Publisher
