Renaissance Festival Features Live Birds of Prey Demonstration

The Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival, one of the largest and most popular Renaissance festivals in the country, is ongoing weekends and Memorial Day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through May 25, in Waxahachie. The festival is a recreated 16th-century English village, celebrating the mirth and merriment during the days of King Henry VIII. The “village” of Scarborough is 35 acres, larger than most shopping mall, set within a 167-acre site.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival is one of the largest outdoor juried craft shows in the country. More than 200 craft shops feature unique handmade wares made by artisans from around the country. Each day, artisans demonstrate ancient crafts.

Live entertainment includes more than 200 performances daily, including sword fighting, comedians, mermaid lagoon, acrobats, musicians, jugglers, Scottish bagpipes, magicians, belly dancing, Renaissance instrumentals and court dancing. There are three full combat jousts each day and Birds of Prey, conducted by John Karger, of the Last Chance Forever Wildlife Conservatory.

Tickets are $25 and may be purchased in advance online. Children 4 and under are free and passes are $20 for ages 5 to12. Location: 2511 FM 66, Waxahachie, TX. For more information, visit srfestival.com.
