National Drive Electric Week, observed from September 15 to 21, is intended to heighten awareness of the widespread availability of plug-in vehicles and highlight the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric cars, trucks and motorcycles because they are fun to drive, less expensive and more convenient to fuel than gasoline vehicles and are better for the environment, promote local jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. 

Started in 2011 as National Plug-In Day to hold simultaneous events across the country on the same day to promote plug-in cars, one day is not enough, and 113 events already scheduled in dozens of cities across the U.S. and Canada. Plug In America, Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association serve as the national team providing support to the events throughout the country.

Participating auto dealers in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area include Classic Chevrolet, in Grapevine, BMW of Arlington, Don Herring Mitsubishi of Plano, Grubbs Nissan, in Bedford, Texas Nissan of Grapevine, Auto Nation Nissan of Dallas and Don Davis Nissan, in Arlington.
