Arlington Festival Stimulates Environmental Awareness

The seventh annual Ecofest Arlington will take place in downtown Arlington on September 19, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. This free, family-oriented event helps build a sense of community, stimulates environmental awareness and promotes good environmental stewardship in the mid-cities area. More than 40 vendors will spotlight their green products and services, and classes and demonstrations on environmental awareness will take place throughout the day. Children’s activities will include games, crafts and educational presentations. In addition, there will be live musical performances, free trees and more. Performing this year will be the Chris Watson Band at 6:30 p.m., followed by Somebody’s Darling at 8:00 p.m.

"Last year, Arlington set a new record for Ecofest attendees," Urban Forestry Land Manager
Heather Dowell said. “This event is one of a kind and its popularity reflects that. Ecofest gets bigger and better every year, and we know it makes a difference in our community."

In keeping with the message of Ecofest Arlington, event planners are aiming for a zero-waste event. Recycling stations will be set-up throughout the event and vendors are required to use only materials that fit the recycling and composting guidelines.

Location: 100 W. Abram Street, Arlington, TX. For more information, visit NaturallyFun.org/Ecofest.
