North Texas College Receives National Recognition in Sustainability

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Center for Green Schools and Second Nature, a national nonprofit has announced Cedar Valley College in Lancaster (CVC) as one of the finalists for the Sixth Annual Climate Leadership Awards.

The Climate Leadership Awards are a national competition among higher education institutions that are signatories of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment. “I am so pleased that CVC is being recognized for it’s innovative  programs around climate leadership in this national competition,” said Dr. Maria Boccalandro, director of sustainability programs at Cedar Valley College.

Cedar Valley College is a part of the Sustainable Communities Institute, whose mission is to provide exemplary service to increase sustainability awareness; design and facilitate programs to improve sustainability and research methods and techniques for improving sustainability. Second Nature received nearly 50 applications from across the country, and CVC is one of three finalists in the state of Texas.
