Dallas-based Dickeys Barbecue Pit, with 550 stores across America, will start serving cage-free, vegetarian-fed chicken without raising price. Launch of their sustainable BBQ chicken is scheduled for August 15.
Dickeys, founded in 1941 and now one of the nation’s top BBQ brands and rated among the top 10 casual restaurant chains, is leading the way among casual restaurant chains in antibiotic-free and sustainable meats.
Dickeys is also leading the way in sustainability with its new store models which feature a holistic sensory experience from décor made largely of sustainablysourced, reclaimed wood to hand-crafted elements on the walls. The new store model also includes recyclable and compostable takeout containers made of 100 percent sugarcane and all Dickey’s locations will now use proprietary wood-blend pellets to slow smoke all meats that consume 80 percent less wood.
