Three Foods to Heal Your Body

Everybody wants to be healthier. Some people exercise, take supplements, guzzle noni juice, meditate and try to live healthy lives, but it seems that this trend hasn't completely caught on in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Many patients want a quick fix or miracle elixir to help take away all of their pains and complaints without the hard work that usually requires. For those people out there who are serious about the food they eat and want to lead healthy lives, here are three superfoods that will help ease the pain in your joints and prevent disease.

Cinnamon: This spice helps control your glycemic index, and by simply adding one-quarter teaspoon to applesauce or oatmeal you can decrease your insulin resistance. This may help prevent metabolic syndrome and diabetes.

Licorice: This root can help lower blood pressure, loosen the stool and help with animal dander allergies. You can find licorice root powder or anise spice in many "green drinks" at the vitamin shop, but keep in mind that less is more with licorice, and that pregnant women should avoid high doses.

Turmeric: This spice, a member of the ginger family, is used in Indian cuisine. In traditional Eastern medicine, turmeric is used to treat inflammation of the gastrointestinal system and the joints. Some studies show that turmeric lowers the growth factors of certain cancers and can effectively block pain enzymes almost as much as NSAID drugs.

All of these foods can be added to your meals at home and or ingested in a supplement form. However you decide to use these tips, remember to consult a health practitioner for advice.
