Certified Texas Master Naturalist Amy Martin has written a new book, Wild DFW: Explore the Amazing Nature In and Around Dallas-Fort Worth, on Timber Press,. that explores the nature of Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties, It includes their ecology, geography and natural history from ancient times to the present.
The field guide covers more than 100 species of flora and fauna with 25 hiking adventures, as well as 350 color photos and more than 40 detailed maps. She says, “Nature isn’t just someplace we visit, it's where we live.”
More than a book about landscape, Wild DFW showcases a community of people devoted to preserving nature. Martin is the senior features writer for Green Source DFW. She sits on the Dallas County Open Space Trails and Preserves Program board and serves as state social media director for Native Prairies Association of Texas.
