Komen Race for the Cure

Having survived a two-year battle with breast cancer and six surgeries, Leslie Ezelle, a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, mother of four, interior design pro and contestant on this season’s HGTV Design Star, is anxious to tell her story and embrace her battle scars in support of the cause. She attributes her battle to pursuing her dreams of having her own design show one day and making herself a household name. With a passion for art and design and wrapping her radiation tattoo with a pink ribbon she’s looking to give back and spread that colorful love!

In support of the cause, she’s partnering with Komen Dallas Count and serving as honorary chair for the 2011 Komen Dallas Race for the Cure®, a prestigious role once held by the former First Lady Laura Bush. Raising awareness and honoring breast cancer survivors and ones who have lost their battle is a top priority for her. She’s commemorating her late aunt Anne, and working diligently to produce a documentary film featuring the assembly of a gigantic 13-foot-high by 12-foot-wide metal bra sculpture named ‘Ann-e Girl’. Ezelle has enlisted local Dallas Sculptor George Tobolowsky to collaborate and design this significant art display.

The launch of Pink Dallas, an initiative from Komen Dallas County to raise breast cancer awareness during October by “pinking Dallas.” ‘Ann-e Girl’ was unveiled amongst a pink clad crowd cheering her on! This symbolic display will tour the city of Dallas, landing at various businesses, with supporters anticipating, “Where will she pop up next?” The goal is raise breast cancer awareness and shed a light on the artistic movement in Dallas, raising its level of creativity and sophistication that has not been illustrated until now. Individual supporters have the opportunity to be a part of this project by having their names printed on plaques in honor of those who have suffered with this deadly disease.
