Mesquite Rodeo continues Proud Tradition

Dubbed “The Rodeo Capital of Texas” by the Texas Legislature, the World-Famous Mesquite ProRodeo is located at the Mesquite Arena, just 15 minutes from downtown Dallas. The rodeo season runs every Friday and Saturday through August 25 in the newly upgraded enclosed, air-conditioned arena. PRCA-sanctioned events include the best of championship rodeo: bull riding, saddle bronc and bareback riding, cowgirl barrel racing, tie-down roping, steer wrestling and team roping.

In addition to the rodeo competition, there is patriotic pageantry, comedy and kid-friendly activities such as mutton bustin’ and calf scrambles that make for unforgettable family outings. Mesquite ProRodeo was named one of the top five PRCA rodeos in 2011 for its size classification. More than $2 million in upgrades have been made to the facility, including new arena lighting, interior design and sound within the 5,000-seat facility, which can extend to 7,000 seats for special concerts

Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and rodeo events begin at 7:30 p.m. Post-rodeo concerts begin at 9:30 p.m. Texas barbeque is offered at the 8-Second Club and on the arena floor.

Tickets cost from $12-30. Location: 1818 Rodeo Dr., Mesquite. For more information visit MesquiteRodeo.com.
