As the company’s 27th indoor skydiving facility, iFLY Dallas, in Frisco, is scheduled to open in time for the holiday season. There is also one in Austin, the company’s headquarters. iFLY features a giant, 50-foot-tall, 14-foot-diameter wind tunnel in an all-glass flight chamber that generates wind speeds of up to 175 mph.
For about $60, a diver gets one minute in the tunnel. An instructor guides divers from inside; beginners receive training as part of their flying experience and all customers get the use of all necessary flight equipment. The company describes the experience as free-fall skydiving, without a parachute and the risk
The experience mimics outdoor skydiving so closely that competitive skydivers use iFly for practice. The facility is designed to accommodate everyone from children as young as 3 for birthday parties, company development experiences and even physics lessons for students. The tunnel also has an automated state-of-the art HD photo and video recording system, allowing customers to take their flight experience home and share it online.
Location: State Hwy. 121, east of the tollway, in front of Stonebriar Center mall. For more information, visit iFlyWorld.com.
