Up, Up and Away at Plano Balloon Festival

One of city’s largest celebrations, the Plano Balloon Festival, which draws more than 90,000 spectators, will mark its 34th year from September 20 through 22, at Oak Point Park. Live entertainment, a Saturday evening spectacular fireworks show, special kids activities, skydivers, food, merchandise and handmade products are all part of the festival. The balloons will launch at 6 p.m., Friday and 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

The third annual Plano Balloon Festival Half Marathon, 5K Run and 1K Fun Run/Walk events provide three race distances, with runners’ breakfast provided by Central Market. Races begin at 7:30 a.m., September 22. The last day for online registration for the races is September 16.

Admission is $5, $4 over 65 or over and free for kids under 36 inches. Prime parking is $10 at Collin College Spring Creek Campus, Oak Point Recreation Center and nearby churches. Location: 2801 E.
