Everything’s Bigger in Texas, Even the Fair

The State Fair of Texas is up and running through October 20 in the 277-acre Fair Park with the theme The One and Only. This year’s State Fair Musical is the Tony Award–winning Broadway sensation, The Lion King. The unforgettable score, breathtaking sets and talented cast will thrill audiences during its three-week run in the historic Music Hall at Fair Park. Performances are scheduled daily, except Mondays, beginning October 2.

Once the site of the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition, which ran for six months and attracted 6 million people, the State Fair has been a major source of entertainment for millions since 1886, as well as a significant factor in the growth of Dallas.

Exhibit space is spread out over six different buildings. There are 70 rides, approximately 10,000 livestock entries and 5,000 creative arts entries. The all-new Silverado Main Stage features top entertainers every weekend, plus live bands throughout the week. All concerts are free for fairgoers.
