Take a Hike on the Wild Side

Cedar Ridge Preserve (The Preserve) is holding their fourth annual Hike On The Wild Side-Hike A-Thon fundraiser from 7 to 10:30 a.m., May 10, to maintain and improve the park. Participants are given a ticket when they register and select one of four trails to hike. For each hike completed, they get another ticket, which is then entered into a raffle at noon for prizes donated by local businesses.

The Preserve, a slice of the hill country just 20 minutes south of downtown Dallas one of the 10 best places to hike in Dallas by D Magazine, also has partnered with Dogwood Canyon, an Audubon center located a few miles away, to hire an educator. Currently focusing on Girl Scout camping trips where the girls will have the opportunity to earn three badges, their role will evolve to serve the community at large. The third Saturday of each month is Conservation in Action volunteer workday to work on projects aimed at improving The Preserve.

Cost is $10/child 6-12 $5/ under 6 free. Location: 7171 Mountain Creek Pkwy. For more information, visit AudubonDallas.org/cedarridge.html.
