A new Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport Dart Light Rail Station will open August 18 in Terminal A at DFW Airport. Opening of the station allows people to travel to the airport seamlessly on DART from downtown Dallas, Ft. Worth, Plano, Rockwall, Garland and any of 61 stations. DART is already one of the largest light rail systems in the country. The completion the new station, which had been in the DART plan since the agency was created in 1983, is largely seen as Dallas clearing a major hurdle in staking claim as an international city.

Plans had originally called for the station opening in December. Said DART President and Executive Director Gary Thomas, “Opening a project of this complexity early and under budget is a great testament to the work of our DART team and our colleagues at DFW Airport. Support from the Federal Transit Administration and Federal Aviation Administration was also crucial to beating the targeted opening.”
