Dallas Green Fest Celebrates a Greener City
Green Dallas and the Dallas Farmers Market are partnering to present the seventh annual Dallas Green Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, September 19, at the newly renovated Dallas Farmers Market in downtown Dallas. The aim of Green Fest is to renew the message of living sustainably and to showcase products, services and information to help people to reduce their environmental footprint, conserve dwindling resources and save money.
Exhibitors will showcase the latest sustainable products and services available to address energy efficiency, water conservation, alternative transportation, waste reduction, watershed protection and more. Representatives from green and sustainable businesses, public agencies and advocacy groups will be available to answer questions and provide information to attendees interested in living a more eco-minded lifestyle.
Environmental demonstrations and talks include organic gardening, chicken and bee keeping, recycling and composting and sustainable food systems. Children’s activities, healthy lifestyle demonstrations and environmentally friendly specialty products will be available in addition to the farm fresh produce and meats and artisanal products available from the Farmers Market vendors.
This year, Dallas Green Fest is partnering with the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) to hold a food drive. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off at the NTFB office located at the Farmers Market. For a list of most needed items, visit NTFB.org.
Admission is free and parking is available. However, in keeping with the spirit of Green Fest, visitors are encouraged to ride DART or carpool.
Location: The Dallas Farmers Market, 1010 S. Pearl Expy, Dallas, TX. For more information visit GreenDallas.net/Dallas-Green-Fest.
