Feel the Heat at the Plano Balloon Festival

North Texans can do good while having fun, September 18, at the 36th Plano Balloon Festival.  The family oriented event features  interactive kids activities, a fireworks show, sky divers, rides, shopping and food vendors, in addition to the colorful hot air balloons. The Balloon Festival is Plano’s most important fundraiser for area non-profits.

The Balloon Festival is a three-day event beginning at 4:00 p.m., on September 18. The balloons will launch Friday at 6:00 p.m., Saturday at 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and Sunday at 7:00 a.m., and 6:00 p.m. (weather permitting).

Tethered Balloon RideTethered balloon rides will be offered to the public this year. On the tethered ride, the hot air balloon lifts 20 to 30 feet above the ground for several minutes, but does not launch and fly away. Dance troupes, martial arts teams and local bands will provide entertainment during the event.

The Festival also features three distance runs: a half marathon, 10K and a 1K. The 5K and 1K are September 19 and the half marathon is September 20. Races start at 7:30 a.m. on both days.

Location: Oak Point Park, 2801 E. Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, TX. For more information visit BalloonFest.org.
