Homemade Holiday Aromatherapy Cleaning Supplies

As much as we look forward to the holiday season, keeping our home clean and ready for the guests can also make it the most stressful time of the year. Cleaning with natural aromatherapy products does not only make cleaning enjoyable, but also leaves our home with the much desired calming and relaxing atmosphere.

Aromatherapy cleaning products are easy to make with supplies easily available in many local grocery stores. Here are a few aromatherapy recipes to share.

Everyday general cleaner – mix 1 cup vinegar with a 20 drops lemon and 10 drops tea tree oil or another essential oil . Pour in a spray bottle. Shake well.

Wood and furniture cleaner – ¼ cup olive oil, ¼ cup white vinegar, 10 drops orange essential oil. Pour in a spray bottle. Shake well.

Glass Cleaner – 2/3 cup white vinegar, 1 1/3 cups  distilled water and 5 drops lemon or lavender essential oil in a spray bottle. Shake well.

Carpet freshener – Add 10 drops lemon essential oil and 20 drops lavender essential oil in 16 ounces baking soda and mix thoroughly. Store in an airtight jar. Sprinkle on carpet and leave for 15 minutes before vacuuming.

Room and linen spray – For the final touch, in a small spray bottle, add distilled water with a few drops of lavender oil and spray on linen or use just as a room spray.

Stay calm and enjoy the holidays.
