Stress Starts in the Brain

Stress is a familiar word. Everyone has it, but not everyone has figured out how to manage it. As a physical, chemical or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation, stress is a major issue for women's health.

Paradoxically, physical and emotional health issues cause stress, and stress can be the root cause of many health issues. A doctor’s recommendation to reduce stress is easier said than done. The stress response occurs in the autonomic nervous system of the brain. The left hemisphere provides a freeze response, numbing us for protection, and the right hemisphere provides a flight response, creating anxiety to cope with a given situation.

The brain needs the flexibility and balance that allows both hemispheres to be in constant communication without neurological blocking for maximum performance. If the brain gets stuck in either freeze or flight mode, the imbalance creates dissonance in the body’s natural ability to function at higher levels.

Cutting-edge research shows that full health cannot be achieved without a balanced brain, and that the brain’s active desire and ability to reset and rebalance itself is incredible. Given the right information, we can bring even the most imbalanced brains into balance. All we have to do is mirror the brain to itself via feedback.
