Running of the Blueberries 5K at Texas Blueberry Festival

Running of the Blueberries is an event in the 31st Annual Texas Blueberry Festival, presented by Tipton Ford and produced by the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce, celebrating its 10th anniversary on June 12 with additional 10K and one-mile trails. Fun run enthusiasts of all experience levels are invited to participate in the chip-timed 5K and 10K. Dog owners can walk or run with their pets and receive a logoed bandana when registering. All participants get a T-shirt and the races raise funds for Dog Park Nacogdoches

“The 5K and 10K routes are on the beautifully wooded and shaded Lanana Creek Trail in Nacogdoches,” says organizer Kinnie Reina. “Families, children and dog-walkers looking for a gentler course will want to check out the event's one-mile route that loops around the Clint Dempsey Soccer Complex.”

A virtual option is available. “It gives those who can’t make it in for the Texas Blueberry Festival a chance to participate with us anywhere, anytime,: says Reina. "Run or walk on your own time and on your own course and submit your results online. Download your digital bibs and receive your packet in the mail.”

The 10K will start at 7:15 a.m., 5K will start at 7:30 a.m., and one-mile will immediately follow 5K start. Due to the uneven surface of the trail, strollers are not recommended. The 5K and 10K are limited to the first 350 registrants. The one-mile event is limited to the first 100.

The 31st annual Texas Blueberry Festival  takes place after the event in downtown Nacogdoches—a daylong celebration of the annual blueberry harvest.
