Webb Telescope Finds Hidden Moon of Uranus

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has discovered a new, unnamed moon orbiting Uranus. Measuring just six miles in diameter, it is the 29th known satellite of the giant ice planet and part of a ring of 14 small moons located 35,000 miles from the planet’s center.

This discovery demonstrates the Webb telescope’s high-resolution and infrared capabilities in detecting faint objects in space. In 1986, Voyager 2 astronauts missed this tiny moon while passing Uranus, whereas the telescope successfully overcame the planet’s bright glare to identify it. Researchers anticipate finding more moons.
