The John Wayne Cancer Foundation will bring its Grit Series 5K back to the historic Fort Worth Stockyards on November 7, combining physical activity, community engagement and fundraising to advance cancer research, education and patient support programs.

Inspired by actor John Wayne's battle with cancer, the foundation works to improve cancer prevention, detection and treatment through research, awareness and support initiatives. Its programs have reached more than a million people.

"The John Wayne Grit Series is about challenging yourself, getting outside and giving back," says Ethan Wayne, director of the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. "Every mile helps advance the fight against cancer and carries forward my father's legacy."

Open to runners and walkers of all fitness levels, the event encourages individuals, families and corporate teams to participate in honor of loved ones affected by cancer.

The 5K begins at John Wayne: An American Experience in the Stockyards. Participants may register individually or join fundraising teams.
