The 59th annual Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot, presented by Texas Health Resources, returns to downtown Dallas on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, bringing thousands of runners, walkers, families and four-legged friends together for fitness, fun and community giving.

One of the nation's largest Thanksgiving Day races, the event features a family-friendly 5K run/walk and an 8-mile run, both starting and finishing near Dallas City Hall Plaza. Start waves begin at 8:30 a.m., with additional waves at 9 a.m.

New attractions include a Diaper Dash for crawling babies, an interactive soccer pitch and an expanded petting zoo. Returning favorites include costume contests for participants and their pets, plus commemorative medals for the first 750 leashed dogs crossing the 5K finish line.

More than a holiday tradition, the Turkey Trot supports YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas community programs, including water safety education, youth sports and food distribution.

Virtual participation is available November 19 through December 3. In-person participants must pick up race packets before Thanksgiving, as there is no race-day pickup.

Location: Dallas City Hall Plaza, 1500 Marilla St., Dallas. For registration, volunteer opportunities, and packet pickup information, visit YMCADallas.org/turkeytrot.
