Basketball fans, families and anyone looking for a fun — and free — Saturday afternoon are invited to Hoops for the City, taking place Saturday, September 5, from 3–7 p.m. at Arlington ISD Arena, 1001 E. Division St., Arlington, TX 76011.

The free community event will bring together basketball, BBQ and entertainment for an afternoon designed for guests of all ages. Attendees can enjoy complimentary BBQ and drinks, basketball activities, games, prizes and giveaways — and the first 50 guests to arrive will receive a $25 American Express gift card.

Members of The University of Texas at Arlington Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will lead a basketball clinic, giving fans the opportunity to get on the court and learn from UTA athletes. UTA Cheer will also join the festivities.

Adding to the excitement, filming will take place during Hoops for the City, giving guests a chance to be part of an event being captured for the upcoming program.

Additional activities will include carnival games, basketball shooting competitions, prizes and giveaways.

Hoops for the City is open to families, adults, basketball fans and anyone who wants to enjoy complimentary BBQ, drinks and an afternoon of activities and entertainment. Admission is free, but advance RSVP is required and attendance is limited. Registration will close once capacity is reached.
