Parker University Celebrates 30th Anniversary
Parker University, originally founded as Parker College of Chiropractic by Dr. James W. Parker, is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The school was originally located in Irving, Texas before moving to its present location in Dallas in 1989.
The first class graduated in September 1985, with 25 students. Since that time, total enrollment has grown to nearly 1,000 students. In 2011, Parker College of Chiropractic was renamed Parker University to allow for additional bachelor and master degree programs, including specialties that include nutrition, sports management and public health. The change to university status also paved the way for agreements with regional universities for student exchange programs and other shared resource efforts.
Parker served as president of the college until the mid-1990s. Parker University’s current president, Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, was appointed in 1999.
