A meditation practice provides a myriad of benefits as a quick Google search reveals – stress relief, relaxation, better digestion, better sleep, more mindful eating, more energy, better focus, and concentration. The benefits of mindfulness are cumulative, the more you meditate, the more benefits you experience.
The Meditation Program at Yoga Mart is lead by Lynne Patterson and offers many meditation techniques and styles, with a focus on Mindfulness and Open Awareness.
The classes begin with slow gentle movements to signal relaxation to the body. Then participants settle into a comfortable, supported posture, on the floor or in a chair, reclining or erect. Breathwork follows, to help our senses withdraw and our bodies unwind.
A guided meditation leads you inward, to relax and release, to dig deep and examine things at the very root. Then we sit in stillness and silence for deep contemplation and inner reflection. Returning the external, we bring a profound sense of peace and tranquility.
Sessions are weekly on Sunday from 3:15 to 4:15.
The price is $10 per session, payable to Lynne at the session.
