Yin Yoga + Sound Bath

This workshop will incorporate a blend of yin yoga and sound bath meditation.

This 1 1/2-hour experience led by co-founder Chelsey Charbeneau will incorporate a blend of yin yoga and sound bath meditation to explore fascial stretching in the physical body through different yin yoga postures, cultivate awareness in stillness, and allow active rest in a meditative sound bath. Open to all levels.

We will begin with a 60-minute yin yoga class followed by a 30-minute sound bath. Yin yoga targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks of the body – rather than the muscles. In general, a yin approach works to promote flexibility in areas often perceived as nonmalleable, such as the hips, pelvis, and lower back. A yin practice consists of staying in supportive stretches for prolonged periods of time. In this stillness, the body is able to relax and open like never before. Once your body is opened and the qi is moving smoother you will come into a comfortable resting position for a sound bath. This sound bath will incorporate the use of various ancient instruments such as: crystal singing bowls, gongs and chimes. Props will be provided for use in yin yoga postures, and instructions will be given on how to properly use props to support your practice. All levels of experience are welcome regardless of having practiced yin yoga before. Come balance the yin and yang within you and find a deeper connection to your mind, body, and spirit.
