Apr 01, 2015 12:49PM

Earth Day Texas (EDTx) is so big that is takes three days to get it done. Held April 24 through 26 at Fair Park, in Dallas, it's become the largest Earth Day celebration in the nation in just five years. Founder Trammell S. Crow states, “Adding a third day to the event will allow EDTx to better engage the business and civic communities in the national effort to become a more environmentally friendly culture.”

Programs beginning at 10 a.m. Friday will cater to the business and civic communities in particular, increasing the event’s educational reach, while maintaining the popular public show on Saturday and Sunday.EDTx decided to begin on a weekday to engage decision makers across Texas and the rest of the nation by hosting an eco-conference with notable speakers; a roundtable panel; and special meeting and event space for trade associations, professional societies, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, corporations and chambers of commerce.

Speakers include Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patric; Joe Quinlan, managing director and chief market strategist of U.S. Trust; Bjorn Lomborg, author of The Skeptical Environmentalist; Texas railroad commissioner Ryan Sitton; former Houston Mayor Bill White; Chef Chad Houser, of Café Momentum; Jack Matthews, developer of Southside on Lamar; Michael Sorrell, president of Paul Quinn College; Dallas Planning Commission Vice-Chair Bobby Abtahi;Wick Allison; publisher of D Magazine; Chef Graham Dodds, of Hibiscus restaurant; and Karenna Gore Schiff, author and daughter of former U.S. Vice President Al Gore.

EDTxis a platform that brings businesses, environmental organizations, academic institutions and government agencies together to positively influence the way Texans think, live and work.
