On Friday, February 6, 2026, residents across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex will join communities nationwide in wearing red for National Wear Red Day, the signature awareness event of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement. The annual observance brings attention to cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death for women.
Heart disease claims more lives among women than all forms of cancer combined, yet it is often misunderstood as primarily a men’s health issue. National Wear Red Day underscores that reality while highlighting prevention. According to the American Heart Association, as many as 80 percent of cardiac events may be prevented through education, early detection and healthy lifestyle choices.
North Texans are encouraged to participate by wearing red on February 6, sharing awareness messages and learning key health indicators such as blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels. The day serves as both a visible show of support and a reminder for women to prioritize heart health through informed, proactive care.
The Go Red for Women movement works to educate, empower and advocate for women’s cardiovascular health, helping women understand their unique risk factors and take steps toward lifelong heart wellness.
