Water-Smart Gardens Wanted for 32nd Annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour

Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) and the City of Dallas Office of Environmental Quality & Sustainability are inviting North Texas homeowners to enter the 32nd Annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour, which celebrates attractive landscapes that conserve water while supporting a healthier environment.

The free competition recognizes yards featuring native and adapted plants, efficient irrigation, rainwater harvesting, reduced turf areas and other sustainable landscaping practices. Entries are due August 21 and must include an online registration form and at least four landscape photos, including one wide-angle view.

Judges will evaluate entries based on landscape design, water-conservation features and overall maintenance. Selected properties will be showcased during the Water-Wise Landscape Tour on October 17, giving homeowners an opportunity to inspire others with practical ideas for creating beautiful, drought-tolerant landscapes.

The annual tour demonstrates that water-wise gardening can reduce outdoor water use, minimize stormwater runoff, support pollinators and enhance curb appeal.
