Spring in Texas is marked by the arrival of bluebonnets, and communities across the state are celebrating with festivals that highlight the iconic wildflower and seasonal outdoor traditions.
In Ennis, the official Bluebonnet City of Texas, more than 40 miles of mapped driving trails will be open throughout April, with peak blooms typically occurring mid-month. The Ennis Bluebonnet Trails Festival, April 17 - 19, will feature live music, food vendors, shopping and family-friendly activities in the historic downtown area.
The Burnet Bluebonnet Festival, April 10–12, offers a classic Hill Country celebration with a parade, live entertainment, artisan vendors and carnival attractions. Additional events across the state include smaller community festivals and wildflower celebrations that draw visitors each spring.
For Dallas-Fort Worth residents, Ennis provides one of the closest and most accessible bluebonnet experiences, located about 35 miles south of Dallas. Seasonal blooms can also be found along highways, parks and open spaces throughout North Texas, offering opportunities for scenic drives, photography and outdoor family outings.
Bluebonnet season typically runs from March through April, depending on rainfall and weather conditions.
