Farmers, ranchers, homesteaders, food advocates and local food supporters from across Texas and the South will gather August 3 and 4 for the 2026 Southern Family Farmers and Food Systems Conference at Texas State University in San Marcos. Pre-conference workshops will be offered July 31 through August 2.
Often described as the largest gathering of independent family farmers and local food advocates in Texas, the annual conference focuses on strengthening regional food systems, sustainable agriculture and food sovereignty. Educational sessions will cover topics ranging from crop and livestock production to business development, marketing, agricultural policy and emerging innovations in regenerative agriculture.
Attendees can choose from eight educational tracks, participate in hands-on workshops, connect with agricultural experts and explore an exhibit hall featuring more than 50 vendors serving farmers and ranchers. Organizers say the event provides valuable networking opportunities for both experienced producers and those interested in starting or expanding agricultural enterprises.
The conference comes as consumer demand for locally grown food continues to grow across North Texas and the state, creating new opportunities for farmers markets, community-supported agriculture programs and regenerative farming operations.
