Small Actions, Big Impact: Dallas Encourages Sustainable Living

As North Texas enters another summer of extreme heat, the City of Dallas is encouraging residents and businesses to take practical steps that support a healthier, more sustainable community through its Comprehensive Environmental & Climate Action Plan (CECAP). The initiative focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving resilience to severe weather and protecting public health throughout the city.
Residents can contribute through energy-saving measures such as weatherizing homes, improving insulation and reducing resource consumption. Businesses can also participate in the City's free Green Business Certification program, which recognizes organizations implementing environmentally responsible practices.
As part of Dallas' broader public health and environmental efforts, city officials also remind residents that vaping is prohibited anywhere smoking is banned, including indoor public spaces, within 15 feet of entrances and on park property. The ordinance, which took effect in December 2025, is intended to support cleaner air and healthier shared spaces.
